Porto Belo

Few things are more characteristic of Portugal that its open-air fairs and flea markets. They are a key part of Portuguese life and many of the most traditional ones are still held to this day. In other places, however, these flea markets have been modernised, giving visitors the chance to find artisanal treasures, items from local designers and unique antiques.

This is the case of the Porto Belo market. Created as a nod to London’s famous Portobello market, it is held every Saturday, weather permitting, at Praça Carlos Alberto in the Vitoria district. Although there are fewer stalls than at the London version, this market is an interesting place to find products of all sorts: from vintage clothing to local designers, from accessories to crafts, plus loads of curiosities.

The stalls are out on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
